Bill is an experienced Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.  He has been a Registered Nurse for 27 years, and a Nurse Practitioner since 2012.  He earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the Medical College of Georgia, and his graduate degree from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor.  A United States Navy Retiree with 30 years of dedicated military service, and experience in private practice following his military career, he has an extensive background in the evaluation and treatment of many psychiatric disorders including combat related disorders like Post Traumatic Stress. 

 

He prides himself in working alongside each individual, their emotional support, and their therapist, to craft a personalized treatment plan using psychopharmacology and state of the art options like genetic testing to assist in selecting medications.

Kelly graduated from Oakland University in 2014 with her master’s in nursing earning a Family Nurse Practitioner certificate. In 2020 she obtained her post master’s certificate as a Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Early in her career in family practice, Kelly knew that she wanted to further her education in psychiatry and help patients to receive the mental health care that they needed.

 

Kelly believes in a holistic approach to mental health care as well as the importance of good therapeutic relationships with her patients and their families. Kelly is seeing children and adolescents as well as adults.

Diane Gutchak is a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), a psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), as well as faculty for the University of Michigan – Flint.  Twenty-four years as a FNP helped to nurture a passion for psychiatry. Diane provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, and medication management for patients experiencing depression, anxiety, ADHD, bipolar and other mood disorders. Angela Stathopoulos is a 2002 graduate of Michigan State University's College of Nursing and a 2005 graduate of Wayne State University's College of Nursing's Master of Science in Psychiatric Nursing Program. She is ANCC board certified as a Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.

Angela comes to Lakes Center Mental Health Network with over 17 years of full time work experience as an NP in outpatient psychiatry.

Angela holds special interest in the treatment of refractory depression using strategies beyond the typically necessary SSRI's and psychotherapy venturing into options including TMS, SPRAVATO, add on antidepressants, Lithium, vibrational frequency, and Botox injections of the forehead and 11 lines.

Ginger Blair, LMSW, CAADC

Regina is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist certified in both EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and Perinatal Mental Health, and she also incorporates CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and IFS (Internal Family Systems) treatment modalities into her work. Regina has worked in private practice for a decade supporting clients sorting through developmental trauma, single incident trauma and antenatal/postpartum issues.

Anne is a fully licensed clinical psychologist specializing in the treatment of children, teens and families. She received her doctorate in clinical psychology with a specialty in Child and Family Treatment in 1985 from Oklahoma State University. Her undergraduate studies were at Kalamazoo College with work at Johns Hopkins in the Kennedy Child Development center. She

is licensed in both Michigan and New York. Further, she is trained in Play therapy and Family Systems Therapy. She has worked for over 35 years in private practice, community mental health, hospitals, courts, and school settings; evaluating and treating children with a variety of challenges. Anne is a member of the American Psychological Association and Michigan Association of School Psychologists.

Linda Fershtman, (she/her/hers) has been practicing psychology for 26 years. She is dually certified in both clinical and school psychology. Before joining Lakes Center Mental Health Network, Linda was the Managing Director and clinician for 11 years at Lakes Area Psychological Services. Linda also has extensive experience in the school setting working with individuals from ages 5-26. Having worked as a school psychologist for 25 years, her rich experience allows her to witness and support the unique difficulties, challenges and problem-solving complexities of children, tweens, and teens. She also has a tailored skill set with school collaboration, helping to guide parents and schools with IEP and accommodation planning. Linda offers goal-oriented in-person or telehealth sessions for each client and throughout her years, has counseled many children, tweens, teens, young adults, with or without their families, in individual, small group and large group settings. 

 

Linda’s compassion and empathy are utilized for developing meaningful relationships consisting of strong rapport. Anetia Isbell is a licensed Professional Counselor and a graduate from Wayne State University.  Ms. Isbell is a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor.  She has completed EMDR training, levels I and I; Dialectical Behavior Training; Motivational Interviewing; Michigan Society of Clinical Hypnosis approved Clinical Hypnosis Training and is a Sex Addiction Therapist Candidate I.  Ms. Isbell has done intensive independent study in family dynamics, the impact of addiction and other dysfunction on families and individuals, and personality disorders.

Ms. Isbell has extensive training and experience providing individual, family and group therapy to a wide variety of clients with various concerns including severe and persistent mental health issues, Borderline Personality disorder, addictions, depression and anxiety, alcohol and drug dependency, relationship difficulties, family problems and interpersonal skills deficiencies. Co-occurring substance abuse, psychiatric and emotional disorders are areas of specialty.  Ms. Isbell tailors her interventions to meet her client’s specific needs.

Jessica Muirhead, LMSW

Kathleen Mahoney LMSW is a fully licensed clinical therapist who graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a Master’s Degree in Social Work. Postgraduate she functioned as a Medical Social Worker in both a hospital and homecare settings. These positions afforded her the opportunity to assist with many medical diagnoses and treatments including chronic pain, heart disease, COPD, oncology and hospice. She utilizes this knowledge in her treatment process.

 

Before joining Lakes Psychiatric Center PLLC, she was a Clinical Therapist at A Healing Place LLC for over two years. Prior to this experience she worked as a Clinical Therapist at Henry Ford Jackson Behavioral Health for twenty years. Kathleen practices from both a holistic and strength-based perspective to assist clients with creating personal goals that can then become the actions that improve their daily life. She has training in treating multiple diagnoses including women’s issues, depression, anxiety, grief, PTSD, relationship issues and life transitions with her treatment focused on the use of cognitive behavioral therapy while incorporating other models as well.

 

Kathleen believes that therapy is a substantial investment involving significant time and energy and she enjoys aiding people who need guidance with discovering the areas of their life that create concern and are blocking their ability to find contentment. Kathleen works with individuals ages 18 and older as well as couples. One of the aspects of therapy that Kathleen values most is in constructing a safe and trustworthy environment for clients to be able to confidently share their thoughts and feelings so they can begin the journey of self-healing and fulfill internal objectives.

Marina is a board certified licensed professional counselor in private practice in West Bloomfield, Michigan. She offers help to young adults and older. Marina’s areas of expertise include anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, parenting, perinatal adjustments and mood disorders, couples therapy, domestic violence, and post-traumatic stress. For over twelve years, Marina specialized in helping women with perinatal mood disorders and their families during her work with the Beaumont Health System’s Parenting Program. An undergraduate degree in educational psychology was obtained in Argentina. After living in Germany for thirteen years, Marina moved to the US where she obtained a master’s degree in community counseling from Siena Heights University in Michigan, and a doctorate in health psychology from Walden University. Her research focused on implementing mindfulness-based stress reduction to the treatment of postpartum depression and anxiety.

Marina has provided Mental Health First Aid instruction to the community around the Detroit metropolitan area including the Hispanic, public safety, military and higher education populations while working with local mental health agencies. Within the Mental Health First Aid area, Marina served as a National Trainer and a Quality Evaluator for the National Council of Behavioral Health.

Marina’s theoretical orientation is integrative of client-centered, brief solution focused, cognitive-behavioral, and psychodynamic perspectives. Ning is a Licensed Master Social Worker with a strong focus on sexual health and trauma. She graduated from the University of Michigan School of Social Work in 2018 and is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Social Work at Boston University, concentrating on Mental Health and Trauma. As a bilingual immigrant therapist, Ning emphasizes culturally competent and inclusive care, and provides treatment in both English and Mandarin.

 

In her practice, Ning uses a range of evidence-based therapeutic techniques, including EMDR, DBT, and CBT, tailored to meet the specific needs of her clients. With six years of clinical experience in various settings, she has refined her skills in psychiatric evaluations, individual psychotherapy, group therapy, and crisis intervention for adults struggling with PTSD, depression, and other mental health concerns. She also assists young adults with identity exploration. Ning's therapeutic approach is human-centered, valuing each individual's autonomy and fostering close collaboration with her clients. She is knowledgeable, non-judgmental, and dedicated to creating a safe space for individuals to explore, grow, and heal. Ning specializes in serving the LGBTQIA+ community and individuals who practice ethical non-monogamy.

 

Beyond her clinical endeavors, Ning actively engages in research, enhancing understanding of how sexual health and trauma affect diverse populations. Her work is published in peer-reviewed journals, and she regularly shares her findings at conferences and public speaking events, aiming to improve mental health interventions and outcomes within the communities she serves.

Josephine Salem, MSW

Ashley earned her master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Wayne State University. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a development plan counselor with the Michigan Certification Board for Addiction Professionals. Prior to joining the Lakes Psychiatric Center team, Ashley worked at a non-profit organization, which provided her with invaluable clinical experience, treating a wide range of presenting problems in persons 6 years and older through individual, group, and family therapy. She practices trauma-informed care and places an emphasis on developing a strong therapeutic relationship, which is the foundation for effective treatment. She believes that you are the expert on yourself and your goals, and partners with you sharing her own knowledge on treating mental health and substance use disorders to develop a clear plan to elicit change. Ashley strives to provide a safe, compassionate space free of judgement to process life experiences and learn skills to better manage symptoms. She uses an integrated approach to treatment, drawing upon a variety of therapeutic techniques based on individual needs. Frequently utilized techniques include person-centered therapy, solution-focused therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, play-based therapy techniques, motivational interviewing, reality therapy, gestalt therapy, and psychoeducation.

Courtney received a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Northern Arizona University and earned a Master’s of Community Counseling Degree in 2009 from Adams State College.  She has experience working with adolescents and adults in community based, academic, and health care settings.  Courtney’s training and experience in the counseling field includes working in the areas of Crisis Intervention, Domestic Violence, interpersonal and relationship issues, working with individuals and groups with Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), substance abuse issues, and equine assisted recreational and therapeutic groups, as well as providing support for Palliative Medicine patients and families.  Having raised a family, cared for aging parents, and through her palliative clinic experience, she brings an understanding of various stages of life to her counseling approach.

Linda is a Licensed Master Social Worker with 25+ years’ experience. She received her BSW from Michigan State (1979) and her MSW from Wayne State University (1994).

 

She works with a wide range of clients: female, male, as well as non-binary, from 18 years and up to seniors. Her experience has been varied, dealing with a wide range of issues.

Genevieve Taylor, LPC

Heidi has a master's degree in clinical mental health counseling from Wayne State University. She also has a Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture with a minor in Horticulture! She has extensive experience with the perinatal mental health population not only through her own experience but also through training from Postpartum Support International, The Bloom Foundation, Postpartum Progress, Beaumont Parenting Program, and as a clinician at Nature’s Playhouse in Ferndale. Heidi also has remained an active patient advocate for Sage Therapeutics, a leader in perinatal mood disorder research and pharmaceutical intervention.

Trisha Zukowski is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) who specializes in working with individuals with anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), trauma, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), grief and loss, and hospice (end of life). Trisha has 10 years of experience in the mental health field. She completed her Master of Social Work (MSW) at Wayne State University.
